IndiGo and Digi Yatra launch facial recognition trials for international flights across seven Indian airports
IndiGo and Digi Yatra have initiated trials of facial recognition technology for international passengers at seven Indian airports, extending the digital identity platform beyond domestic travel. Running until December 2026, the beta phase allows eligible Indian nationals with e-passports to use biometric verification at terminal entry, security, and boarding gates on select flights. According to IndiGo Chief Digital and Information Officer Neetan Chopra, the project enhances operational efficiency and security. Digi Yatra Foundation CEO Suresh Khadakbhavi noted the initiative aligns with global interoperability frameworks.
