India Significantly Cuts Cancer Drug Prices to Improve Affordability
According to the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, India is reducing the prices of 137 cancer medications by up to 70 percent to enhance treatment affordability. Trade margins for these drugs will be capped at 30 percent of the maximum retail price. The affected treatments, taking effect on November 9, encompass immunotherapy drugs and therapies for various cancers, including breast, prostate, colon, ovarian, and cervical cancers. This policy expands upon previous price controls implemented in 2019 that targeted 42 anti-cancer drugs.
